Production Waste Adds Cost
At The Cincinnatus Group, we have experience that has shown us that miscutting and waste creation adds cost to every job.
When a fabricator produces scrap, waste, and even excessive inventory, it’s like a hidden tax that burdens both their business and the projects they serve.
Everything gets paid for somewhere down the line. If mismeasuring results in avoidable scrap pieces, then either those costs are passed on to the buyer, absorbed by the fabricator, or a combination of both. Regardless of the situation, though, unneeded costs are spread through the ductwork acquisition pipeline.
Of course, mismeasurement presents one kind of burden if identified at the fabrication facility, and another entirely if identified on the construction site.
HVAC ductwork must fit together with a precision that takes into account effective duct length and all the fittings, such that even minor miscalculations in production can result in time consuming adjustments on-site. Working to adjust sheet metal at the construction site adds avoidable labor time, further spreading the cost of production errors to the project.
Optimizing HVAC Duct Fabrication
TCG has had decades of internal optimization of our fabricating process. We’ve learned from early failures to meet deadlines, shop floor bottlenecks and inefficiencies, overstocking of inventory, and more.
From software to machine settings, from rigorous training of new employees to hands-on quality control, we’ve invested in creating an environment that comprehensively reduces miscuts, mismeasurement, and waste.
This has several effects. It improves turnaround time for our customers. It makes our products more affordable to purchase and to install. It contributes to projects that are more energy efficient and reliable, allowing for cost savings over the lifetime of the construction.
At TCG, we employ lean manufacturing techniques, always keeping our eye on the fact that our mission is to serve our customers with the kind of quality and value that serves their needs and enhances their goals, not merely to fill orders.
Precision Results in Real Savings of 25% to 35%
For years now, we’ve proven we can deliver savings of 25% to 35% over traditional duct fabrication.
- Using Advanced Coordination and Shop Drawing techniques, we can eliminate field measuring and layout on site.
- We deliver lower fabrication costs because our coordination and BIM models are so precise they allow us to optimize the number of standard lengths of duct and minimize the total number of joints and fittings.
- TCG works with you to create a proactive delivery schedule, with duct delivery orders assigned to pre-planned project zones. You get what you need where you need it to keep your crews “hanging and banging.”
- Duct and fittings arrive wrapped, sorted, and labeled. No time is wasted in searching for the right piece or in a trial-and-error assembly of a duct run.
- Precision and organization work together to allow project managers to use their least experienced labor on duct installation, freeing expensive and experienced hands for more important tasks.
We’ve pioneered a variety of ways to save on duct acquisition. If you’d like to learn more about them, give us a call at 877-600-0274 or visit our website today.
Partner with TCG to Do More and Earn More
When sourcing HVAC duct, look beyond the lowest cost. Poor production practices may hit you with a hidden tax, one that builds hidden costs into deliver, installation, and on-site troubleshooting and rework, as well as causing headaches and time-wasting fatigue for your best on-site teams.
Our goal is to partner with our customers in ways that make the entire workflow from order to installation a seamless exercise in time and cost savings. By employing foresight and delivering the highest quality, the savings delivered by TCG extend into the lifetime of the construction project, with energy efficiencies that result in less cooling and heating costs, as well as less drain on and a longer lifespan for the HVAC equipment itself.
We supply traditional Rectangular Ductwork as well as Spiral Ductwork, PCD Ductwork, and Specialty Ductwork.
In almost any industry, it’s not all about method, software, or supply. TCG leads in optimization and efficiency of HVAC duct production because of our experienced and dedicated team. Let us put them to work for you!
